With the New Year around the corner, now is the time to align your resolutions with what you’re hoping to achieve in 2023. This year, while you focus on wellness, diet, and exercise, improve the odds of sticking to it by implementing new goals for your pet too!
Diet
While you rearrange your dietary habits, take a peek at your pet’s nutritional intake as well. Perhaps you don’t measure your pet’s food, resulting in frequent overfeeding, or maybe your pet gets a few too many table scraps causing them to gain unwanted weight. Whatever the case may be, this year, consider new ways to enhance your pet’s diet to promote a happier and healthier life for them.
Exercise
If 2022 was spent with an excessive amount of time on the couch with your pet in front of the television, it’s time to make a change! This year, prioritize your exercise while finding ways to include your pet’s cardio needs in your plans. This may include more walks for your dog or more playtime with your cat. Exercise plays a key role in keeping your pet happy and well-behaved, as pets often become restless when they do not have a proper energy release.
Wellness Checks
It’s easy to lose track of our pet’s health and wellness needs when our lives become overwhelmed with the demands of work, school, family, and everything else. This year, take a minute to check in with your pet’s wellness. Observe them for any abnormalities or signs that something may be off. Our pets cannot vocalize their emotions; therefore, it’s important to pay close attention to behavioral changes such as lack of appetite, excessive licking, or lethargy.
Most importantly, be sure to schedule your pet’s annual veterinary appointments. These appointments are vital to the health and well-being of your animal and should not be taken lightly! Contact your local veterinarian today!
